How to write content that speaks to your audience

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

Do your customers understand your marketing communications? Does it speak to them? As a knowledgeable supplier there is often a tendency to present marketing collateral from a technical ‘product/service’ standpoint, however your customers may not have such a good technical or detailed understanding of your products and services as you do. Carefully crafted content motivates your audience to read and take action.

Try these four tips for creating content that speaks to your customers.

1) Use your content to focus on what your propositions can do for your customers, not what your propositions are in technical detail.

2) Show your customers how using your services can benefit them. Solve your customers' problems in one piece of content marketing by offering meaningful solutions to the challenges they face.

3) Make your content interesting by choosing a hook that will keep the reader engaged. Case studies are great ways of marketing your products to customers by showcasing what you do so well.

4) Convey complex issues in an easy to digest format. Why use two words, when one will do? Short and snappy is better than long and wordy when it comes to marketing content.
