Today’s savvy consumers spend lots of time reading about and researching products before they purchase, therefore for businesses keen to promote the benefits of their products, case studies are incredibly powerful marketing tools. Often more effective than brochures and traditional sales collateral, case studies work so well because they tell stories, credible stories, about real people in real scenarios.
We’ve put together four reasons why your business should consider creating customer case studies to use as part of the marketing mix.
1. Case studies build trust
Anyone can publish testimonials on their website. Not everyone makes these up, of course, but some businesses have been known to devise made-up testimonials to help promote their product or service. Case studies are more in depth and they explain how problems are solved. If properly structured and well written, a case study is so much more powerful than just a testimonial, it can help your business build trust with your customers.
2. People buy from people
Consumers love to learn about others in similar situations and trust what others say so much more than an advert or brochure. Ultimately people buy from people and need a human connection to help make a buying decision. Case studies are great storytelling assets.
3. Statistics speak for themselves
All great case studies contain some kind of data or statistic, which makes them incredibly valuable. Few things are trusted more than statistics and factual claims and in the data driven world we live in numbers are so important.
4. Case studies have multiple uses
An effective case study is an evergreen form of content that is interesting, relevant and doesn’t become dated. It can be used time and time again in its entirety or made into separate blogs or infographics and offers multiple options for sharing.
